Namibian businesses are among those being targeted for African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) training through the Africa Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), in collaboration with the AfCFTA Secretariat.

According to Afreximbank, the training will take place in Egypt in June and is open to businesses across Africa.

It aims to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge needed to fully participate in intra-African trade under the AfCFTA framework.

Afreximbank Group Chief Economist Yemi Kale said the program will help participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the trade agreement and how to leverage its opportunities for business and continental growth.

AfCFTA Secretariat Director of Trade in Goods and Competition Mohamed Ali said the initiative is a key step toward unlocking intra-African trade potential through capacity building and stronger institutional partnerships.

Officials noted that despite the AfCFTA’s vast economic promise, limited understanding of its technical rules continues to slow its full implementation.

The training is expected to address these gaps and improve market access for African producers of goods and services.
