Botswana has signed major agreements with Oman aimed at strengthening its energy security and driving economic transformation.
The deals were signed under the auspices of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Botswana President Duma Boko.

The partnership includes the development of a 500MW solar photovoltaic plant with battery storage, a joint mineral exploration initiative targeting copper, gold, graphite, and iron ore, and petroleum infrastructure projects involving Botswana Oil Limited and Oman’s OQ S.A.O.C.
Key projects also include coastal fuel storage in Walvis Bay and the Tshele Hills Strategic Petroleum Depot, aimed at improving supply chains and national resilience.
The agreements mark a strategic push to boost renewable energy, expand mineral resources, and attract investment, positioning Botswana for long-term economic growth and energy independence.
