Global digital sensation IShowSpeed, Darren Watkins Jr., has arrived in Ethiopia, drawing widespread international attention as part of his viral Africa tour. The 21-year-old American YouTuber, whose online following exceeds 150 million across platforms, is in Addis Ababa showcasing Ethiopia’s rich culture, history, and everyday life to a global audience in real time.
Branded “Speed Does Africa,” the tour spans 20 African countries and has already generated massive digital impact. During his recent stop in Kenya, IShowSpeed gained more than 300,000 subscribers in a single day, pushing his YouTube audience to 48 million.

Upon arriving in Addis Ababa, he was officially welcomed by Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa, highlighting the growing role of digital creators in cultural diplomacy and tourism promotion.

One of the most widely shared moments of his Ethiopian visit took place at the Adwa Victory Memorial, where IShowSpeed walked barefoot through the historic site commemorating Ethiopia’s landmark victory over Italian forces in 1896.
