ASMIS2026 is Birth of a New Storytelling Era, Says CEO of AGA Tech Enterprise

The African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS 2026) is more than just a conference—it is a platform for Africa’s digital transformation, collaboration, and storytelling, said CEO of AGA Tech Enterprise and co-organizer of the summit, Gemeda Olana.

The inaugural ASMIS officially opened in Addis Ababa today bringing together top officials, influencers, creators, and media leaders from across Africa and beyond.

“This is not just an event, it is the birth of a digital movement of Africa,” said Gemeda describing Ethiopia as the “cradle of humanity” and a historic and cultural center of Africa, highlighting its ancient heritage, natural landmarks, and its role as the diplomatic capital of the continent.

He emphasized that ASMIS 2026 goes beyond a conference, positioning it as a platform for Africa’s digital transformation, collaboration, and storytelling.

Social media influencers, he said, have become key drivers of change, serving as storytellers, educators, brand builders, and cultural ambassadors shaping modern African narratives.

The summit was created to connect influencers, brands, policymakers, investors, and innovators to unlock opportunities and amplify African creativity globally.

“To every creator here, your voice is powerful and your content can shape generations,” he said, urging participants to use their platforms for meaningful impact.

He added that ASMIS is not about chasing followers, but about building a bridge between African creativity and global investment opportunities.

He highlighted the participation of renowned creator Wode Maya as a reflection of the summit’s focus on powerful, unapologetically African storytelling.

He also thanked international guests, partners, and the Government of Ethiopia for supporting youth empowerment and digital innovation.

Gemeda pledged to grow ASMIS into Africa’s leading annual digital summit and announced plans for future expansion, including the introduction of the African Social Media Influencers Awards.

He concluded, “Let this summit spark conversations that echo from Africa to the world. Welcome to the future of digital power.”

The event marks the beginning of a new era of African digital leadership and storytelling.
