The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has reached a major milestone after its Committee of Ambassadors convened in Djibouti City to formally validate the organization’s Strategy for 2026–2030.
The new roadmap outlines IGAD’s priorities for peace, integration, resilience, and regional cooperation over the next four years.
During the meeting, ambassadors also adopted the organization’s budget for 2026, a move that strengthens IGAD’s capacity to execute its newly approved strategic vision.
In a message shared on social media, IGAD’s Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu praised Member States for their continued support, noting that their commitment remains central to the region’s progress.
He emphasized that the adoption of both the strategy and budget marks “an important milestone” and reflects the collective ambition of Member States to build a more peaceful, integrated, and resilient Horn of Africa.
The validation sets the stage for implementation efforts expected to begin next year, as IGAD prepares to steer regional initiatives under its renewed strategic framework.
