Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos received a delegation led by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kunimitsu Ayano, at his office today.
During the meeting, FM Gedion said Ethiopia and Japan share long-standing diplomatic relations and strong cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, expressing appreciation for Japan’s continued development assistance.

He noted that ties between the two countries have been strengthening, particularly in trade and investment, and underscored the need to further expand economic cooperation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
State Minister Kunimitsu Ayano emphasized the importance of sustaining and deepening Ethiopia–Japan collaboration, especially in trade and investment.
As part of the visit, FM Gedion briefed 48 business representatives from more than 35 Japanese companies on Ethiopia’s trade and investment opportunities, highlighting the benefits of ongoing macroeconomic reforms.

State Minister Ayano welcomed the briefing and said the delegation would take part in the Ethiopia–Japan Business Forum scheduled for tomorrow, aimed at further boosting economic ties.
