Ethiopia Expands Tourism Horizons: PM Abiy Inaugurates World-Class Logo Hayk Resort

Yet another milestone in his trademark tourism destinations expansion drive in Ethiopia through large scale developments that combine traditional and modern designs and motifs, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday inaugurated the Logo Hayk Resort in Wollo, Amhara regional state.

“Today, the Logo Hayk Resort has been officially inaugurated, seamlessly embracing the natural beauty of Wollo with modern, world-class infrastructure,” read the statement posted on the official social media page of the office of the prime minister. “Beyond its physical presence, the resort is designed as a catalyst for both local and national economic transformation.”

Under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia is revitalizing its tourism industry with initiatives like Dine for Sheger, Dine for Nation, and Dine for Generations, developing world-class destinations to stimulate the economy and generate employment opportunities.

As the second Dine project in the Amhara region, following Gorgora (a large-scale innovative lakeside destination), Logo Hayk Resort will generate direct and indirect employment, stimulate value chains across agriculture, transport, hospitality, and services, and create new market opportunities for local producers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.  

Logo Hayk Resort, one of many across Ethiopia, is believed to strengthens tourism-led growth while anchoring sustainable livelihoods for surrounding communities. Tourism in one of five sectoral pillars that form Ethiopia’s Homegrown Economic Reform.

“Guided by the spirit of Medemer, (Prime Minister Abiy’s governance philosophy coded in a series of books), this initiative brings government and the private sector to the same table, translating policy into action and investment into tangible impact, it said.

“By developing the resort through a collaborative model, we have laid a durable foundation for public-private partnership, policy continuity, and long-term growth,” Prime Minister Abiy said, adding the Resort stands as an open invitation for the kind-hearted people of Wollo to share their heritage, culture, values, and hospitality with the world.

Constructed under the Prime Ministerial Dine for Generations initiative, the Resort spans 13.3 hectares. Fully equipped with high-end amenities, the facility features restaurants, swimming pools, internal asphalt roads, and a helicopter pad. Surrounded by diverse fruit zones and beautifully landscaped greenery, the resort offers visitors a truly captivating experience that promises unforgettable memories.

“Beyond its world-class facilities, Logo Hayk Resort stands as a testament to Ethiopia’s unwavering commitment and practical efforts toward realizing its ambition of becoming a leading tourist destination in Africa,” the office of the prime minister said. “By integrating tourism development with environmental conservation, sustainability, and social inclusivity, the resort provides a platform for the people of Wollo to showcase their rich cultural and natural heritage to the global community.”
