Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited the Qeto Irrigation Infrastructure Development Project, highlighting its transformative impact on Sedi Chanka and Hawa Gelan woredas in Kellem Wollega Zone, Oromia Regional State.

He praised the project for efficiently using the natural landscape to provide reliable water access for farming. “It is encouraging to see irrigated land already being cultivated and communities benefiting directly from the initiative. The accompanying road infrastructure is also improving market access and easing daily life for residents,” he shared on X.
The project supports key crops including wheat, rice, banana, papaya, and orange, demonstrating how irrigation and infrastructure can drive sustainable rural development and improve livelihoods in the region.
