President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed three key pieces of legislation into law: the Cyber Crime and Computer Misuse Act 2026, the Southern Sudan Audit Chamber (Amendment) Act 2026, and the Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Act 2026.
Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny highlighted the significance of the Cyber Crime and Computer Misuse Act, noting that it provides for offences related to computer systems and ensures timely detection, prevention, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes.

The Audit Chamber Amendment Act introduces clear procedures for auditing and reporting on the accounts of national government ministries, agencies, departments, and corporations where public funds are handled, strengthening financial accountability.
Meanwhile, the Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Act establishes a regulatory framework for wildlife conservation and the management of protected areas, aiming to sustainably preserve South Sudan’s natural heritage for the benefit of its citizens.
The new laws are expected to transform South Sudan’s digital governance, financial accountability, and environmental management, marking a significant step forward in the country’s legislative reforms, according to the Office of the President – South Sudan.
