European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela will visit Ethiopia on 20–21 April 2026, where he will open the EU–Ethiopia Business Forum in Addis Ababa and hold talks with government, business, and international partners.
The forum, running from 20–22 April, will bring together over 500 participants from Ethiopia, Europe, and beyond, including investors, companies, development finance institutions, and government officials.
Discussions will focus on agribusiness, clean energy, digital transformation, health, and manufacturing, alongside business matchmaking sessions.
Commissioner Síkela will also participate in a signature ceremony marking new steps in EU–Ethiopia cooperation.

During his visit, he will tour key projects including the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority’s Coffee Training Centre, the Bole Bulbula Government Job Centre supported by the ILO and IOM, and the Africa CDC Emergency Centre and Laboratory in Addis Ababa.
Síkela said Ethiopia has the scale and ambition to become one of Africa’s defining economies, adding that the visit aims to deepen a partnership that benefits both Ethiopia and Europe.
Ethiopia remains one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, with GDP projected to grow above 7 percent in 2026.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia, the EU is its largest export destination and second-largest trading partner, with around 300 European companies active in the country.
The EU–Ethiopia Business Forum runs from 20–22 April 2026 in Addis Ababa.
