The 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa has officially commenced on the shores of Lake Tana in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia today in the presence of African leaders.
Running from October 23 to 25 under the theme “Pathways to Peace in Africa: Economic Sovereignty and Geopolitical Transformation,” the annual summit brings together sitting and former African heads of state, regional envoys, international institution leaders, and security experts to address the continent's most pressing challenges.
The Tana Forum has established itself as a premier African-led platform for open dialogue. As the gathering addresses security issues through both formal deliberations and candid, informal engagements, allowing leaders to exchange perspectives and explore policy options beyond conventional diplomatic constraints.

This year's agenda places economic sovereignty and geopolitical transformation at the center of discussions.
Leaders and delegates are evaluating Africa's evolving role in shifting global power dynamics, strategic resource governance, and continental stability.
Beyond formal sessions, special attention is being directed toward bilateral talks between state leaders and dedicated engagements among Horn of Africa special envoys.
Ethiopia continues its active participation in the forum as part of its diplomatic commitment to advancing peace, conflict resolution, and security collaboration across the continent. By fostering high-level networking and flexible diplomatic channels, the gathering aims to produce actionable policy pathways for long-term African stability and self-reliance.
